New Beta Testing Blog
Posted by stuart on March 03rd 2006
I test a lot of beta software. Some of it is good and a lot of it is bad. I thought I would create a blog where I could journal my findings and share my experiences with readers around the world.
When I refer to beta software, I refer to both software applications as well as web services. Often these web services are referred to as “Web 2.0″ – to me, the term Web 2.0 can be used to describe any web site that provides a service that would have been unimaginable a couple of years ago. Technologies like AJAX, Ruby on Rails, and Python have all made these services possible and this definitely makes the web an exciting (and sometimes over-hyped) place.
I also focus a lot on Microsoft technologies. This is because I work in a Microsoft world and it is in my best interest to keep up to date with Microsoft’s offerings. This doesn’t necessarily mean that I prefer Microsoft technologies, this is just what I deal with most.
I aim to remain unbiased throughout this blog – I have used many different operating systems, office suites, antivirus applications, media players, etc. and I am a firm believer in “the right software for the right job for the right person.” You may not agree with some of my opinions and I may not agree with yours, so I encourage readers to leave comments with their thoughts on each post. Healthy debate can only help strengthen the value of the content of this site.
