Microsoft have just annouced the new name of what was orignally called Monad: Windows PowerShell. They have also bumped the version to RC1 and are expecting to release the full version in Q4 2006.

I like the new name, I’m not saying that it’s perfect – and there are apparently other similar products already available with the same name – but it’s a lot better than the current naming conventions that Microsoft seem to follow. Usually they start out with a cool code name and then change it something lame when it releases – Origami (Ultra Mobile PC or UMPC), Sparkle (Microsoft Expression Interactive Designer), etc…
