Too much Google love

Michael Arrington, Om Malik, Paul Kedrosky, and others are having a rant about all the Google-love going. I agree with most of what they say, even though I’m coming off a glowing review on the Google Spreadsheet offering.

A point that I should make is that I think that Google have got lots of good products and they seem to be believe in release early, fix later. This is why most of their products, when released, are often missing critical features – such as charts in Spreadsheets, and albums in Picasa. Then, when they add those features, everyone raves about Google and they cool stuff they do! I personally would rather get the products early rather than wait forever and risk them becoming vapourware.

As for Google Spreadsheets – I think it’s cool what can be done nowadays with Ajax and other web technologies. Maybe one day everyone will use online apps, but for now they are limited in their usefulness but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they are still cool to play with.
